Atoms are the building blocks of life. They are the smallest unit of an element. The atomic number is the number of protons (which we will get into soon) in an atom of an element.
An atom has many parts which are the Proton, Electron, Neutron, and more. Protons have positive electric charge which attracts the negatively charged electrons. Electrons are negatively charged particles in the atom. Neutrons are neutral particles that don’t have an electric charge.
Other than particles there are the Shell, and Nucleus. The electrons in the atom that float around the Nucleus are in layers called Shells. The Nucleus is the core of the atom, which is made up of protons, and neutrons.
